WeeTube

Cadence (aka Wee) has been a blast recently! Luckily, the flipcam and the trusty blog has been available to capture all of the crazy firsts!!!

At 7 months old, she's doing all kinds of "big girl" things.

She currently has 2 teeth, both on the bottom and I'm sure she's days away from getting more. These days, everything goes in her mouth to chew on, and her little "teef" are sharp!!!! She's done very well with the teething process for the most part, only being fussy and requiring Tylenol/Motrin a few times.

Meals are one of Cade's favorite times of the day. She loves eating! Typically she has a fruit and baby yogurt for breakfast followed by a bottle if I'm lucky. She's gone through phases where solid food is far more appealing than her bottles of formula. (Also currently being used as chew toys). We're still working on her hand eye coordination and manipulating small things but she enjoys baby puffs, baby "cheetos", and baby wagon wheels. The easiest "snack" for her to hold are Baby MumMums and while her accuracy isn't bad, each snack ends up covering her in a sticky mess. I find rice crackers in her hair, ears, under her chin, you name it! Dinner time she'll normally eat an entire jar of a mixed "entree" and sometimes a veggie (peas are her favorite, thanks Magic Bullet!!!) or more yogurt. We introduced various sippy cups to her several weeks ago but at this time they serve as more of a teething toy than an apparatus to get a drink from. She'll get it sooner or later I'm sure.

Naps/Sleep: We've been so lucky to have had a great sleeper from the start! Cadence has slept in her crib in her room since she was 2 weeks old. From the time she was very little, I wanted to pick a routine and stick with it as best as we could and bedtime has been that routine. Most nights, she gets a shower or bath, followed by Johnson's bedtime lotion, jammers, books, and a bottle, and she's normally asleep within minutes! We put her in her crib and she rolls over, collects her 3 giraffe blankets, gets a bink, and goes to sleep. No muss, no fuss. Naps are also remarkably easy. She normally takes 2, 2 hour naps each day, one within 2 hours of waking up and one in the evening time with cat-naps as needed in the car or if her teeth seem to be bugging her.

Playing/Interacting with toys and people: Cadence has been a well adjusted and social kiddo since day 1. She's happy being around people just observing them and listening. Very rarely does she fuss too much or make a scene. Recently, Cader-Potater has been experiencing stranger awareness. (Note that I said awareness and not anxiety). She typically is happy going to play with or be held by just about anyone but she's quite the mama's girl and is very aware if I leave a room or go out of sight and she'll wimper sometimes for me. When I'm holding her and I hand her to someone, Cade will cling to me for a moment, look at me for assurance and pretty much go to whoever I'm handing her to. There are times that she's seen a familiar face but it had been a while since she had seen them and she took some time getting used to them again, sorry, Mom! (her most recent encounter with Nanny, there were no tears shed, so we must be on the right track!) She's a little jumpy at noises right now, which is a new thing for her. I used to do my hair with her in the bathroom and use the hair dryer with no problem but now she screams at the sound. Yesterday in the car (granted, I'm loud), I heard a joke on the radio and laughed as well as congratulated myself for answering a trivia question correctly (don't judge, you know you do it too!) and my exclamation of "YES!!!!!!!" and the laugh scared the pants off of poor Cadence and she screamed.

Toys and books are Cade's favorites! She enjoys reading real books or checking out e-books on Matt's new nook (so cool by the way!!!). She loves toys that light up and make sounds (who wouldn't!?). Her current favorite toy is her bouncer that our awesome PD friends gave us after their kiddos out grew it. Cade will happily play in the jumperoo or door bouncer for a long time! (See new youtube at the bottom of the page!) Remotes and cell phones are also toys in Cade's book and thankfully she's happy with her de-batteried xbox controller and old cell phone that she pushes buttons on and inevitably puts in her mouth.

New things.... while I've been signing to Cadence for a few months now, she's not quite replicating them but she's close. She has however, figured out waving and seems to know when to try it out. (very cute!) She's also babbling and making more decipherable sounds, ma, da, ba, na. Betsy and I were encouraging her to repeat "Da-Da" at one of Matt's pictures last night. She's also into making funny faces and snorting (I have yet to have the flipcam ready for one of thses). Cadence will scrunch her nose, purse her lips and snort and its so funny!!!!! Newest of all, she's started to army crawl! Betsy and I couldn't believe it last night when she must have crawled 5 feet or so and then began to open our media cabinet. We're on the move and in some trouble!

Enjoy the newest videos and all the latest dish on sweet Cadence Brynn!!!!!
