Cadence loves to laugh, often times at her own pictures, old videos, and of course, an old standby, peek-a-boo.
And, she's FINALLY doing a "real" non -army crawl, however, she uses her own discretion in when she does it. If we have an interesting enough toy, she'll follow it as she is here.....
Its a rough life for Wee!

Cadence at 9 months
9 months old!? You've got to be kidding me!!!
Cadence is a happy, curious, and thriving little one!
This week we went to her pediatrician for her routine well baby check up and per normal, Cade is doing fantastically and growing like a weed! She's even graduated into a big girl carseat!
Weight: 20lbs 9 oz. 75%
Height 29.5 inches! 95%
Head circumference: 17inches. 25%
Vaccines: Hep B #3, hemoglobin test, (12.1, within normal range)
Developmentally, Cadence is right on track with other babies her age and even ahead of some! She sits well independently and will play with and reach for toys. Her new favorite thing to do is pull herself to standing while in her crib or while playing and will support herself with her crib or table, chairs, whatever she can hold onto. She hasn't quite begun to cruise but its coming. She's very into opening and closing drawers, moving storage baskets and removing their contents. Remotes, cell phones, anything that lights up or makes noise, including keys, are her favorite toys. Cadence will drink from her camelbak cup as well as sippy cups and still has bottles with formula at night and in the morning but prefers juice and water during the day. She has a great appetite and loves baby puffs, cheerios, yogurt, fruit, and graham crackers. She isn't into feeding herself messy foods yet, no interest in touching eggs, lunch meats, cheese, but she'll often eat them from a spoon or fork since she's still working on her pincer grab. On a typical day she eats 2-3 meals with 2-3 snacks in between.
This little girl LOVES to play and she's one smart cookie. If we remove a toy that she's playing with, she'll look for it and try to retrieve it. She's gotten very vocal recently, too! Ya-ya, ba-ba-da-da,wa-wa, ra-ra. She loves hearing the sound of her own voice! Lots of raspberries have been made recently too. She doesn't call me "mama" or Matt "dada" yet specifically but definitely makes the sounds. She also will make fake coughing sounds (we call them "foughs") and makes a fake laugh.
Cadence is very aware of strangers and often times familiar faces. If I'm holding her, she'll play coy for a minute and bury her head on my shoulder and then will happily go to whoever wants to hold her while keeping a close eye on me. She definitely understands "hi" and "bye" and will wave enthusiastically at people. Clapping is also a favorite.
She continues to be a good napper, taking 2, 2 hour naps most days. She still wakes up at night, normally just once though and she either wants a diaper change, her bink replaced, or a bottle.
Cadence has recently taken up swimming at Auntie Cami's pool and loves it! She's also enrolled in Waterbabies classes that start tomorrow. Cade's pretty happy doing anything outside, enjoying a ride in the jogger stroller, sliding, swinging, scooting in grass (not yet "real crawling", still army crawling with vigor), riding with me on the bike trail, and our newest favorite, bon fires at Auntie Betsy's house with Uncle Forrest and Mia.

Happy 4th of July!
How I've been with a Kirkland police officer for years and not attended the Kirkland 4th of July parade is beyond me!
I'm finding that now that we have a little one, we have excuses to do things that we wouldn't have done sans kids. While Matt worked a corner, ha ha, stopping traffic and rerouting people who CLAIM that even though there's been signage for weeks, they didn't know there was a parade with road closures, Cadence and I, along with Nanny, met up with some other families at the PD and got ready to walk in the parade. We hung out at the PD chatting with various other families who were also participating and walked to our starting point, but not before first going to the wrong staging area, you're welcome everyone, my bad!
Long story short(ish), the parade was delayed because someone had a heart attack (not sure if it was a parade participant or a parade watcher). We eventually got going and had a great time seeing the TONS of Kirkland residents who came out for the festivities. I'd say the highlight of the parade was the corrections' lieutenant's miniature horse, and of course, Miss Cadence, who fell asleep mid way through the parade.
After strolling around the city, we headed back to the PD for a BBQ and hanging out with friends.
All in all it was a great day, and definitely the beginning of many parade years to come!!!
