Playing with the T2i

I haven't even begun to figure out the real functionality of my fabulous new camera, but have thoroughly enjoyed playing around with my lenses, particularly my "nifty fifty".

I have yet to even read the manual on buttons and settings but here's a few more shots of Bets and I playing.

Thank you IRS

Dear IRS,

Thank you for taking too much out of our paychecks last year. We're enjoying our return. ....and when I say "we" (as opposed to Wee), I mean me.
We gifted ourselves with a fabulous Canon T2i digital SLR camera. The pictures speak for themselves, but I will say, the camera is fab.

Love,
Matt and Rach

A few random pictures....

Last week, we enjoyed a visit with Landon and Chase....

Cade was crying so I thought a picture would cheer her up. It did not.

4 year olds do good tricks.

Chase was in Cade's chair so we improvised and it worked.

For the past few nights, even though we've done our normal bedtime routine, Cadence has been fussy when we put her to bed, so I let her snuggled with Matt for a while......

Look familiar?

10/14/10

Today, since Matt's new job gives him days off on holidays, we took a day trip to Leavenworth to walk around, show Cadence the many sights, and to eat at some of our favorite spots. We also bought Cadence and handmade wooden giraffe puzzle to commemerate her first trip to The Wood Shop.

Not quite eating real foods yet but developing interest. So far she likes licking popsicles and licking beef with barley soup off of spoons.

Baby Sign Language

I started signing with Cadence recently, even though its not likely that she can replicate a sign until she's 6 months old. Its been really interesting to not only learn new signs myself but also watch how intently she watches me sign.

I've come across a really great resource website and youtube channel that I thought I'd share, especially since some of my faithful blog readers often take care of Cadence.

http://www.babysignlanguagedictionary-mysmarthands.com/giraffe_-_ASL_sign_for_giraffe.html

My Smart Hands is an awesome resource with clear directions about how to appropriately sign and how to recognize baby signing things that are more challenging.

I sign daily to Cadence, primarily signing "mommy" , "daddy" "grandma/grandpa", "giraffe", "milk", "bath", "diaper", "change", "tired", "sleep", "play" and "toys". I have yet to learn all of the signs in the My Smart Hands dictionary but I hope to learn as many as I can so I can teach Cadence.

4 months already!

I'm not sure where the time has gone, but we've already arrived at Cadence's 4 month well care!

Cadence is really thriving and she's overall a happy baby.

Developmentally, Cade is still considered to be premature but she's darn close to other babies her age who were delivered at full term. She loves to stand and look around. When she's on her tummy (which is rare, its not her favorite anymore), she holds her head 90 degrees. When she swings, plays in her bouncer, or plays on her toy mat, she's able to reach for and hold on to her toys. She's thankfully not too mobile yet but does a lot of scooting and rearranging in her crib at nighttime. She also likes to "launch" herself out of her bumbo chair.

Her favorite toys are her giraffe blanky, rattles, and her squeaky giraffe. She looks happily at her caterpillar stuffed toy and her bear mobile when she's in her crib. She loves her baths and showers! Her main dislike is being buckled in her carseat.

We're still 2 months away from solid foods, thank goodness. Cadence still has reflux issues that she's medicated for but she enjoys her bottles (aka baa's) and takes formula and mommy's milk well. In the last week she's gone from being content with 4 ounces to wanting 6. We're very proud of her healthy progress.

The doctor's appointment itself went very welll. Going to the doctor is more of a social event since I used to work at the clinic we take her. There were some cute kids in the waiting room who seemed entertained that "oooo, a baby" was waiting too.

Wee's growing like a champ!

Head circumfrence: 15.5inches, 10%
Weight: 14lbs 5 oz 75%
Height: 25.5 inches 95%!

Matt met us at the office since we had an evening appointment and he worked all day. Matt was there more for my moral support than for Cade's. I give shots with the best, but seeing Wee get shots makes me sad. Go figure that I did better than I did last appointment but she had a tougher time. It also doesn't help that she's got a cold thats given her a cough, runny nose, and a raspy voice. She fussed much longer after her shots and cried the whole way home (last time she just slept immediately). (We're thankful that we live less than 10 minutes from the office). Upon getting home, Cadence just wanted cuddles and eventually fell asleep on Matt's shoulder. She's still sleeping as a type and I anticipate that we'll wake her up to change her outfit, give her a baa and she'll head back to sleep.

XBox

Its no secret to most that Matt enjoys his Xbox game time, but as it turns out, Cadence has developed a certain liking for it too.....
