Jenna and Alex's Wedding was held at my old stomping grounds, literally. The venue may look like an exotic mansion, but its Jenna's old house where so many of us grew up running, playing, making forts, and playing in the various old vehicles/vessels that Jay would collect. (we miss the bus!) . This spectacular house is located in Sammamish, just up the hill from where I grew up. The house was the perfect venue for such a wedding, and this was the 2nd wedding held at the Patterson residence, PJ and Amanda got married there 2 summers ago.
The day of the wedding was not surprisingly chaotic with tons of people in and out of the house all day long, hair and makeup getting done, last minute lanscaping and yard art getting done, misplacing important documents, losing people, things, and minds left and right. Most of the bridal party and groomsmen arrived at the house around 11 so we'd all be ready for pictures to begin at 2. We were mostly ready for pictures by the time the photographers arrived. I had gotten my hair done elsewhere prior to arriving as did a few other bridesmaids so we simply needed makeup done and to run errands for the bride and family of the bride.
The afternoon was busy leading up to the main event, some tears shed, both happy and of stress, some hair that began up ended up being down, beers and snacks enjoyed, and dogs being tripped over. (no animals were harmed in the wedding of Jenna and Alex).
Guests began arriving around 5:30 for the 6:00 wedding start. Matt had been sleeping off an off duty so I hadn't seen him all day. I was excited to give him hugs and kisses and essentially throw the camera at him so he could get pictures of the ceremony, which he did a great job of. (he looked super cute, too). The ceremony was gorgeous, the weather couldn't have been more perfect, slight breeze and not too terribly hot but gorgeously sunny. Aside from a few mic issues, the ceremony and vows were flawless. Very few dry eyes in the bridal party. Jenna was a radiant and beaming bride and Alex looked so happy and proud, much like Matt looked on our wedding day. (Alex cried more though, awwww!) There was a bit of time after the ceremony to say hi's and hello's to the new husband and wife as well as getting more pictures done prior to each and every bridesmaid trading their heels for flip flops, my feet still hurt.
Matt and I sat at the head table with the bridal party and enjoyed dining on potatoes, flank steaks, 2 salads, and my favorite, seafood paella........ DE LISH!!!!!!! Great wines and champagne too! Can't beat open bar and free cigars which were fabulous! (I can neither confirm or deny that we took one for when the baby's born) . Toasts were made and my favorite definately was the father of the bride's, mentioning Jenna's embarassing moments, most of which, we already knew.
We danced and drank the night away, taking tons of pictures, enjoying great food, family, and friends. The Pattersons know how to throw a party!!!! A favorite moment was seeing the bride and groom off to their car for the night, A Rolls Royce, and sending them through a bridge of sparklers, so neat! Matt and I came home beyond exhausted but what a night we had!
Enjoy the pictures, particularly the ones of Matt's new girlfriend, Emma, who at one point said "I was so happy I cried!," then again, she found reasons to talk to Matt every 2 minutes, or rub his shoulders....or make sure he saw her dress, crown, and pink plastic shoes..... Hail Mary, we're having one of them, perhaps ours though, will have more spacial awareness....
