Guild Picnic/NE 6th PL Reunion

Summer's been treating us well and keeping us busy, as is Cade, who's constantly on the move!

We've been enjoying many outdoor activities as weather permits, particularly with friends and family.

Recently we enjoyed not 1 BBQ, but 2 in one day, including the KPD Guild Picnic, an annual event at the McKay's farm in Monroe, back to back with a NE 6th PL reunion at my mom's. Needless to say, after so much activity and people to see, Cade was exhausted after our big day.

The guild picnic is one of my favorite PD events, aside of course, from the banquet. For the 3rd year in a row, the McKays have graciously hosted the PD event at their property out in Monroe. They have acres and acres of land, own several milking cows and horses. They also have land near the river, where the picnic was held this year. They really go "all out", even hooking up a generator to keep their bouncy house inflated for the kids, and this year, a few adults...myself included. Its an awesome event with tons of food, drinks, fishing, horseshoes, games, wading in the river, and just an all around good time with friends from the department. Cade enjoyed waving at and playing with various PD friends, as well as chewing on rocks and putting as many as she could into her mouth. (Proud moment). She also enjoyed going in the bouncy house and crawling and well, bouncing around, (Shocking, right?) and putting her little toesies in the river.

Later that evening, while Matt hustled to an off duty, Cadence and I went to my mom's for what I've affectionately called the "NE 6th PL Reunion". John and Barb Bentley, our former neighbors from, wow, you guessed it, NE 6th PL, moved years ago to Arizona and Whidbey Island and were in town for a visit. We hadn't seen them since Cadence was a week old, so a reunion was a must. To top if off, Forrest's parent's, Dave and Victoria, were able to join us for the BBQ festivities. It felt just like old times as the 3 families had many dinners together, this time plus Mia, and plus Cadence. John and Barb couldn't believe how big Cade has grown, ugh, me either, and it was so fun to officially introduce her to Dave and Victoria. Victoria hadn't seen her since she was a month old. Like most people, they just melted and oogled over Cade. I got pretty lucky, I didn't really hold her most of the evening, between Dave and Victoria, Mia, and Nanny, I was free! Gotta love helping hands.

We had an awesome dinner and dessert and although Cadence was minus one nap, she behaved very well for the most part, crawling around the deck, playing with Joey, and spending time with her toys in the pack n play.

Pretty big day for a little one!
